Exploring the Northumberland Coastline
One of the best things about the North East of England is the beautiful coastline. All along the Northumberland Coast you can find hidden treasures which are ideal for days exploring with family and friends. Our lodges for sale are situated a stone’s throw away from some of the best beaches in the country.
The small village of Bamburgh is a short drive away from our holiday homes and is one of the most popular places in Northumberland. Thought to have once been the capital of the kingdom of Bernicia in the 400s, today Bamburgh Castle can be seen for miles around.
There are plenty of places to visit including the RNLI Grace Darling Museum and St Aidan’s Church. The local butcher is well known for their Bamburgh Bangers so that’s worth a visit as well.
Set just of the coast you’ll find The Holy Island of Lindisfarne. St Aidan founded his monastery on Lindisfarne in 635 AD and since then the island has been seen as a centre of Celtic Christianity.
To reach Holy Island via road you will need to check the local tide times to make sure when it is safe for you to cross. These are updated regularly so check each time you visit your holiday home.
If you head further down the coast then you’ll reach the popular seaside town of Seahouses. From here you can easily travel to the Farne Islands which are well known for their wildlife including Puffins.
There is nothing better than fresh fish and chips by the seaside and Seahouses is full of takeaways to enjoy! There are also lots of small local shops and restaurants to eat at.
Places to Walk
On top of this, you can also explore the countryside that surrounds our lodges for sale. The Northumberland National Park is on your doorstep, providing the perfect space for walks out. Lots of wildlife can be found here including grouse, red squirrels, goats as well as roe deer.
There are many different walking routes which suit all kinds of ages and abilities. You can find out more about these on the National Park’s website.
