The timeless cycle of seasons and a deep connection to the landscape, history and spirit of Northumberland are the inspiration behind Bēodern (n. Old English: Dining Hall).
By day enjoy a coffee and cake, a light lunch or sharing platter, or maybe something more hearty. Brunch is available Monday to Saturday, Afternoon Tea packages can be booked on the last Saturday of every month, and Sunday lunch is a favourite every week.
By night, we turn the lights down low and offer the chance to enjoy everything from a cosy dinner, celebratory meal or just time to relax with great food.
What is more, if you want to sample the true taste of Northumbria, we have our suite of Ad Gefrin spirits – Tácnbora, Thirlings and Flýte – that not only uniquely feature in our menus, but are available from our bar which also celebrates other local, English and Borders labels.
There is additional outdoor seating on our patio overlooking our garden where dogs are also welcome.
We welcome reservations online, over the phone, or in person to guarantee your table. To get in touch with our team about any queries you may have about Bēodern please click here.
Whether you’re looking for a quiet spot for a coffee and catch up, or the clan is ravenous after exploring, drop in to Bamburgh Walled Garden Café for artisan coffee, home-baking and great food all served up in our laid back café.

Ahoy there Matey! Can you follow the clues to find the letters and crack the Pirate code?
There might be a few trick clues along the way and not all booty seekers will be lucky but if you manage to crack the code you will find the treasure.
When : 21st July until 31st August 2025Â Â Â –Â Â 10:00 am – 4:15 pm
Where – grab a clue sheet from our ticket office staff on arrival. All clues are outside in the grounds of the castle – if the Booty has been looted you may see some treasure chests inside the castle. Those pesky Pirates can’t be trusted! Cap’n Izzy Biggus-bottom and Cap’n Polly No-beard are always on the look out for jewels and gold and they move their treasure chests every day!
If you can crack the code and word out the word then you are well on your way to being a Cap’n of a Pirate Ship.
